Tile arrives for the Sanctuary floor! Tiling the floor of the Sanctuary has been one of the largest projects in our church renovation. For the last three weeks, tiling crews have been working diligently to carefully cut and place each and every single tile in the Sanctuary. A combination of marble, stone, and terracotta tiles, in addition to three intricate mosaic tile patterns on the predellas plus an ornate placement of tiles in the center of the sanctuary is a difficult and complicated job but will make for a beautiful sanctuary floor when it’s all done! Quimby Pipe Organs, Inc. moved our pipe organ into the choir loft this week! One of the nice features left to us by the former occupants of our new church was a full working pipe organ! This organ was previously installed in what is now the sanctuary so it was necessary to move it into the choir loft. These altars were purchased from a church in Pennsylvania and are over 100 years old! They had to be disassembled, retrofitted for the new sanctuary, stripped, primed, painted, gold leafed, and reassembled. The process was very tedious but the final result looks marvelous! The main altar was installed last week. I’ll be posting...

This week saw the original stained glass windows reinstalled in the nave. Also, the final coat of paint is going on the back wall of the sanctuary. The balcony railing is finished and the flooring in the choir loft is being laid down. The stained glass windows were removed when construction began and sent off for cleaning. Now they are back. These windows are the original windows that were installed in the church when it was built in the 1940’s. Although it was a Lutheran church, you can see many traditional motifs of Catholic theology present in the windows. A chalice and host...
